Make Your Wedding Photo Book

A wedding photo book may be one of the most important books that you can make. This book will record the most important day of the happy couple’s life so it is important to make it special and to make it fit the personality of the couple and the style of their ceremony. In this article I am going to talk about making your own photo book for recent wedding. I’ll talk about using photo books to restore old wedding albums in another article.

Here are a few ideas to help you make your own wedding photo book:

  • Selecting pictures: Pick out your favorite pictures or sit down with the couple and select them if you are making the book for someone else. Its nice to be able to tell the story of the entire day, so its great if your photographer took shots of the brides preparations, journey to the ceremony and candid ‘action’ shots as well as posed pictures. Try to pick a good, varied set of photos that will remind you )or the couple) of all the unique events and personal moments of that special day whenever you look at your wedding photo book.
  • Writing Text: You or the happy couple have a unique opportunity to add a personal touch to a wedding photo book by adding text. Text can be short captions or full paragraphs. This is one of the great features of photo books over photo albums that make them so special so take time to think about what you want to say about your wedding day. You might also like to include your vows or the words to the song that you chose for your first dance.
  • ideacenter-main-weddingThink About Design Theme: The design of the book should reflect the style of the wedding and the personality of the couple. For a traditional wedding, plain black backgrounds with white frames or no frames and a cursive handwriting font are a classic choice. You can also find backgrounds based on classic wedding flowers or wedding fabrics like white and ivory lace.  While most people will choose an elegant , formal look for their wedding photo book, theres nothing wrong with a funky design if it fits the couple! A wedding that takes place in an exotic location, like a Caribbean ocean front might use a theme or backgrounds that are usually used for beach holidays.
  • Make the Design Personal: You can create your own backgrounds by taking pictures of interesting patterns or textures like your own wedding flowers or the material of your wedding dress. Other photos can make good backgrounds, like landscapes or a view of the ocean where the ceremony took place, a photo of the reception hall or of the church. This makes your wedding photo book a lot more personal than using generic backgrounds from the photo book software or the web.
  • Cover, Binding and Book Size Choice: You should order your main wedding photo book in at least 8.5 x 11 in size to show your photos off to best effect. A plain black or white die cut cover is a good choice, as is white or black leather with a black and white photo of the wedding couple in the window. You can also order smaller copies of the wedding photo book for parents, the wedding party and other special guests.
  • Include Keepsakes As Well As Photos: You can scan your invitations, cards, marriage license and any other memorable papers or documents. Once you have scanned them, you can include them in your book in the same way that you would include a photo. Make sure that you scan at at least 300 dpi to make sure that the images look good in the final printed wedding photo book.
